Hate Group Cries "Free Speech" After Seif Asi Arrest
Group says criticism of Israel "banned" after a UCF student was arrested for telling a group of Jewish students that he would shoot and kill them.
The registered student organization PSA, which is holding a hate march tomorrow, has released an apparent criticism of the arrest of Seif Asi, the hate criminal who promised to shoot and kill a group of Jewish students.
Their Instagram story reads as follows:
You have the right to freedom of speech on UCF campus.
Please be aware of the law Florida passed in 2019 (HB741). HB741 restricts your rights on freedom of speech. HB741 limits students by banning you from criticizing Isr**l because it is “antisemitic".
Law enforcement will take action if this law is considered to be violated. Please be wary, record incidents, and talk to our exec board if anything happens
Antisemitic and neo-Nazi organizations commonly disguise antisemitism as anti-Israel activism to avoid scrutiny from civil rights organizations and law enforcement.
Based on the timing (less than a week after the arrest of a hate criminal) and language (“law enforcement will take action”) of the statement, it can be assumed that PSA views Seif Asi’s arrest as an unjust violation of free speech rights, and that they do not view him as “antisemitic.” As such, UCF Jews should be skeptical when PSA declares that they and their activism are not “antisemitic.”
Please keep the following notice in mind for tomorrow, if you choose to go to campus:
If you are confronted by a pro-Hamas individual or group, you should attempt to quickly move to a populated area and de-escalate the situation by refusing to discuss it. Place as much physical distance between yourself and the individual/group as possible. Do not, under any circumstances, engage with or confront pro-Hamas individuals or groups. The best case scenario is that you will be filmed and your words used as agitprop, increasing the risk of violence against Jews at UCF and potentially around the world. The worst case scenario is too grim to discuss. Call 9-1-1 immediately if you believe the situation is escalating dangerously, or if you believe your life is in danger.
