UCF Student Organization Recreates Nazi Rally at Waterford, 3 Months After Hamas Pogrom
The date, location, and content of the rally all lined up with historically antisemitic events
Yesterday, on December 7th, the 3 month anniversary of the slaughter of more than a thousand Jews and the first night of Hanukkah, YDSA recreated the Nazi rally at Waterford Lakes.
We received reports of a terror rally planned for the East Orlando area, but even we did not predict the sheer evil and depravity which this entailed.
This rally was three things: it was an homage to the old Nazis who preceeded the protestors, who have now clearly identified themselves as the new Nazis in town by rallying in the exact same spot to chant the exact same messages; it was a continuation of the persistent intimidation, harassment, and death threats directed at UCF Jews since the outbreak of the war; and it was a challenge.
It was a challenge directed at UCF’s administration, which has repeatedly declined to penalize any amount of misconduct performed by pro-Hamas elements on campus. It was a challenge to an administration which has proven itself complicit and willing to collaborate with organizations on campus which call for killing Jews. It was a challenge to an institution that we can all have confidence would not declare that calling for the genocide of Jews is a violation of campus conduct codes.
We know UCF wouldn’t because we have been enduring that reality for 3 months. We have been enduring constitutionally unprotected speech for 3 months. Our administration has done nothing for 3 months. We know that this conduct, which is immediately penalized by UCF when directed at other minority groups, doesn’t violate codes of conduct when done against Jews because our blood is worthless. We are nothing compared to Qatari cash.
We know how quickly the administration fired Charles Negy. We know how quickly they acted to protect Black students at UCF, even though Negy’s speech — while abhorrent in every regard — did not demand the killing of Black students. Yet when faced with speech against us which does call for our deaths — making it unambiguously unprotected — they do nothing.
The message is loud and clear. YDSA’s challenge will go unanswered because UCF has made it clear that we are worth less than them. UCF has made it clear that they serve white supremacists first and Jews second. UCF has made it clear that they think they will face no repercussions for their actions.
Unfortunately, unless something changes soon, they’ll be proven right.
